Rockland Chamber of Commerce officially launches

Tom Banks, June Cunniff, and Peter Forman take the wraps off the NEW Rockland Chamber of Commerce

Tuesday, October 11, marked the unveiling of the NEW Rockland Chamber of Commerce. The occasion was marked by a Launch Celebration at Harmon Golf and Fitness Club.

The new Rockland Chamber is the result of a merger of two local business organizations. The original Rockland Chamber of Commerce voted during the summer to combine with the Rockland Business Council, a division of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce. The merged organizations will be known as the Rockland Chamber of Commerce and will be an affiliate of the South Shore Chamber.

“By joining the forces of the Rockland Chamber and the Rockland Business Council, and with the support of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, the business community in Rockland will have one single, strong organization that is able to offer more programs for our members and greater leadership in the town ,” said Tom Banks, who chaired the Rockland Chamber and promoted the merger.

“Every business in Rockland has a stake in our community,” said June Cunniff, who chaired the Rockland Business Council. “Working together, and with the resources of the South Shore Chamber behind us, we can be a force for making Rockland a stronger and more vibrant community and better place to do business.”

Peter Forman, president of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the new Rockland Chamber. “We are very optimistic about the future of the South Shore, and Rockland will be an important part of that growth and prosperity we expect. We look forward to strengthening the Rockland Chamber and the Rockland economy.”
